This budget hotel/guest house is run by the same people who run Sakura Hostel in Asakusa and Sakura Hotel in Ikebukuro. Consequently, it’s quite different to a lot of other hotels in Tokyo as the target clientele are primarily foreign tourists – and it’s dirt cheap!
Rooms at Sakura Hotel Jimbocho are available in two basic types – shared dormitory and private singles (with shared bathroom/shower facilities). The bunk style beds in the dormitory are available from 2,500yen/night while the single rooms are available from about 5,800yen. All stays include breakfast.
Remember, this is a budget tourist hotel/hostel so if you’re expecting things like privacy and quiet you might want to consider another place. However, if you’re looking for somewhere friendly where you won’t have any communication problems, then Sakura Jimbocho might be a good fit for you.
The Jimbocho area is very centrally located although not very lively. It is known as the book district of Tokyo. It is just a short hop, skip and a jump to the Imperial Palace East Garden and Akihabara is also walkable from here.
